Tasting notes
Quite a deep colour. Strange perfumes that seem as though they are oak related. Slightly fizzy. Long and very powerful. Far from classic but satisfying with a particularly chewy end. (JR)

The Maume 2005 Mazis-Chambertin offers an alluring nose of licorice, mint, candied cherry and rose petals. Brightly-fruited on the palate and backed by vividly wet stone and salty mineral character, this sappy, energetic, formidably concentrated, sweetly-ripe Pinot really sticks to the gums, seeming to evince just a slight trace of finishing heat and roughness (perhaps accentuated due to residual CO2) along with its impressively stony, chalky mineral undertow. Also recommended: 2005 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru (unknown; 85-87+?). Importer: Kermit Lynch Wine Merchant, Berkeley, CA; tel. (510) 524 1524
