The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Baudes opens in the glass with aromas of cherries and red berries mingled with sweet spices, loamy soil and rose petals. Medium to full-bodied, lively and concentrated, with fine concentration and a seamless, elegantly muscular profile, it's a fine success that's a worthy follow-up to the 2019 rendition.

The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Baudes 1er Cru, which snuggles up just below Bonnes-Mares, has a well-defined bouquet, very floral with peony and incense infusing the dark cherry and boysenberry fruit. The palate is very concentrated with supple tannins, quite expansive in style with touches of liquorice surfacing towards the graphite-tinged finish. Very fine, but it will need time.
(from a small .17 ha parcel of 40+ year old vines near Bonnes Mares). This too is aromatically restrained but more perfumed on the notes of dark cherry, cassis and violet. The caressing, plump and rounded flavors possess fine mid-palate density before culminating in a dusty, austere and mouth coating finale. This is potentially excellent and a wine that should age gracefully for at least a decade. (91-93)/2032+
