Tasting notes
The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Champs Perrières Vieilles Vignes has quite a voluminous bouquet of precocious dark cherries, bergamot and floral scents, certainly one of the more expressive of Guillaume Tardy’s 2018s at this early juncture. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fleshy and rounded in style, presenting tobacco-tinged red fruit toward the smooth and quite persistent finish. There is a dash of black pepper on the aftertaste. Very fine.

The 2018 Gevrey-Chambertin Champs Perrières Vieilles Vignes has a more expressive bouquet than some of Tardy’s other crus, featuring raspberry, wild strawberry and pressed rose petal aromas, plus a hint of baking powder in the background. This is well defined and vivacious. The palate is fleshy and ripe on the entry with fine, quite saturated tannins and a surfeit of juicy red fruit laced with white pepper and clove toward the long finish. A delicious Gevrey from Guillaume Tardy. Excellent.
