Score 92/100 · Drink 2023-2037, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Mar 2023

The 2019 Riesling Grand Cru Furstentum stopped fermenting at 20 grams per liter of residual sugar at first, but it was made with malolactic fermentation, then racked and inoculated with the 2020 Furstentum yeasts, which led to a quick final fermentation down to six grams per liter of residual sugar and 14% stated alcohol. Bottled in February 2021, the 2019 wine shows a clear and intense, very elegant and complex bouquet with some discreet phenolic notes. Full-bodied, intense and powerful on the palate, this is a rich and tight but also refined and saline Furstentum with fine tannins and an intense, still youthful finish. A little bit closed today but promising. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in May 2022.
