Tasting notes
The 2020 Morey-Saint-Denis Genavrières 1er Cru only finished its malolactic in June ‘21. Nevertheless, this has fine delineation and poise on the nose, taut and fresh with impressive mineralité. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, fleshy and ripe, very pure and perhaps the most sensual and Chambolle-like on the finish. Excellent.

Cask sample. Very bright crimson. Again, the nose is not that fresh. The wine seems too sweet to refresh and the tannins and fruit certainly aren’t integrated at the moment. Rather sickly in fact. (JR)
The 2019 Morey-Saint-Denis Les Genavrières 1er Cru, a new cuvée from a quasi- fermage , comes from vines just above Clos de la Roche. It has a pure and ripe black cherry and blueberry scented bouquet that deftly disguises the 100% whole bunches. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannins, quite fleshy and with good depth, sweet and candied, although it needs to muster more complexity on the finish.
