Tasting notes
The 2018 La Tour Blanche does not quite have the complexity and vigor of the 2019. This is more linear and just missing what you might call "aromatic shoulders." The palate is better, with touches of lemongrass infusing rich honeyed fruit tones. It has fine depth, plenty of energy on the finish and just a touch of VA that gives it a pleasant kick.

Clobbered by hail and mildew apparently. Light, sweet, floral notes. Not one of the sweetest but with refreshing acidity. Just a little lean and lacking in ambition but it’s clean and racy! (JR)
The 2018 La Tour Blanche has a very heady but quite irresistible nose of honeysuckle, apricot and nectarine, touches of quince jelly emerging with time. Good delineation. The palate is typically viscous on the entry with marmalade and crème brûlée notes, tangy tangerine flavors and a smooth finish that maybe just lacks a bit of acidity. Otherwise this is a very delicious Sauternes.
The 2018 La Tour Blanche is a very pretty, easygoing Sauternes. Lemon confit, mint, ginger and dried herbs give the 2018 lovely brightness to match its mid-weight personality. Hints of pineapple, flowers and dried pear linger. Tour Blanche is one of the more delicate, perfumed Sauternes of the year.
