Score 89/100 · Drink 2019-2029, Neal Martin, Oct 2018

The 2016 Le Temple has a tightly wound bouquet with blackberry, sous-bois and light truffle aromas that gradually unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin, then takes its foot off the accelerator towards the finish and eases down to quite a refined finish. This is worth seeking out. Tasted at the Cru Bourgeois tasting in London.

60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot. Mid crimson. Dusty cassis fruit on the nose, subtle, mild and harmonious. Nicely balanced in a modest style. (JH)

60% Cabernet Sauvignon; 35% Merlot; 5% Petit Verdot. Lustrous dark crimson. Spicy, peppery nose that reminds me of Petit Verdot. Very round palate entry with polished tannins. Notably dry finish. Lip-smacking and quite lifted and racy. (JR)
