The 2018 Lune d'Or has a difficult time following the 2017, less complex and a little withdrawn by comparison. It does unfold in the glass, revealing almond and praline scents. The palate is well-balanced with fine acidity, fresh on the entry but not quite summoning requisite tension on the finish due to the warmth of this particular growing season.

The 2018 Lune d'Or exhibits inviting aromas of crips yellow orchard fruit, pastry cream, freshly baked bread and light reduction, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample and seamless palate that's bright and fleshy, concluding with a saline finish. This is a rich but vibrant vintage of this Sémillon-dominant blend.

The 2018 Lune d’Or has a wonderful bouquet of honeysuckle, yellow plum, flecks of white chocolate and a touch of praline. This is very seductive. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity and plenty of tropical fruit (mango and peach) toward the finish, which needs more tension and feels just a little static compared to the nose. I think that this will improve with bottle age, yet side-by-side I find the Lune d’Argent more personable.

The flagship white from this terrific project, the 2018 Lune D'Or Blanc has a richer, more concentrated, serious style. Lots of caramelized white grapefruit, honeyed pineapple, green almond, and a touch of minerality define the bouquet, and it's medium to full-bodied, with a layered, pure texture, integrated acidity, and a great finish. Another beautiful white that's going to shine on the dinner table, it should evolve for a decade.
