Tasting notes
The 2021 Saint-Aubin Les Murgers des Dents de Chien 1er Cru has a lifted nose, quite expressive with apple blossom and subtle granitic scents. Good definition. The palate is taut and fresh with a keen line of acidity. Fine weight, though it does not deliver the mineralité and nervosité on the finish that one finds amongst the best Saint-Aubins in this vintage, but it will give a decade of drinking pleasure. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Saint-Aubin Les Murgers des Dents de Chien 1er Cru is a little riper than other cuvées on the nose, but to me, doesn't possess the same degree of mineralité and tension as Lamy's best cuvées. The palate is balanced with fine weight, a keen line of acidity and a hint of chai, though (again), it does deliver the same mineralité on the finish.
Lamy produced only one barrel of the 2021 Saint-Aubin 1er Cru Les Murgers des Dents de Chien due to the frosts, but the wine has turned out nicely, offering up notes of pear, apple and orange oil mingled with notions of wet stones and iodine. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and mineral, it concludes with a long, pungently saline finish.
