Quite rich and velvety to begin with but then it's quite heavy on the green, fresh notes on the end. (JR)

The 2017 Corton Grand Cru is a mixture of Renardes and Rognets, 100% de-stemmed and matured in 25% new oak. I have to say, I find a little flatness on the nose here, which stands out against the vivacity shown by Marchand-Tawse’s other crus. The palate is nicely balanced and quite fleshy in the mouth, offering red currant and cranberry fruit, brown spices and a touch of licorice toward the finish. Not bad, but it is surpassed by some of the Premier Crus this year. Maybe it was just not showing on the day.
