The 2017 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru is nicely focused on the nose, becoming peachy with aeration, then revealing touches of beeswax and ripe clementines; then all of these scents ebb and allow the terroir to flood through. The palate is well balanced with nicely integrated oak, well-judged and plenty of salinity on the finish. This is a classy, quite mercurial Saint-Aubin that I look forward to revisiting with bottle age. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.

The 2017 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru matures in 15% new oak, has a vibrant wet limestone, Granny Smith apple and subtle white peach scented bouquet. The palate is well balanced with an intense opening, plenty of green apple mixed with gooseberry and a faint tang of ginger. It might just miss a little mineralité on the finish but otherwise this is very fine.
Beautifully taut and fragrant with intense citrus-fruit aromas, in the lemon and grapefruit spectrum, leading to a palate that has a sleek drive of taut, elegant and succulent fruit. Gently biscuity finish. Great balance and drive here. Beautiful wine. Drink in the next six to eight years.
