Very garnet – looks more evolved than you might expect. The maturity is indeed advanced on the nose, but in a balanced way, this is fully ready to drink now with overripe red fruit, undergrowth and spice. (RH)

The 2017 Morey-Saint-Denis La Riotte 1er Cru offers lucid red cherry, crushed strawberry and blood orange on the nose, coming across quite vibrant and almost Chambolle-like in style. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. This is not a deep or powerful wine and might need more grip, but I appreciate the balance and refinement on the finish.
