Tasting notes
(racked into tank; includes fruit from Les Allots and several other climats ; vinified with 20% whole clusters): Healthy dark red. Classic Nuits-Saint-Georges aromas of blackberry, black cherry, violet and bitter chocolate. Juicy and intense but a bit ungiving, with its dark fruit flavors accented by black pepper and herbs. Offers good cut but the tannins are rather dusty. Solidly made but not my favorite style.

The 2016 Nuits Saint-Georges Village is a mixture of four parcels that are usually bottled separately. It has a tightly wound bouquet that does not quite deliver the panache of the Vosne-Romanée at this stage. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin, quite masculine in style although I would like to see a little more fruité on the stern finish. It needs to forage more charm.
Usually makes different lieux-dits but not in 2016. Aux Allots, Aux St-Jacques, etc. Mainly on the Vosne side. Well racked already. Fairly light nose. Lots of rich fruit. Crisp with lots of drive. But sweeter than some. Very well done but a little bit ho hum. (JR)
