Tasting notes
The 2014 Barolo is on the thinnest side of the naturally thin (in appearance, I mean) Nebbiolo grape. The wine pours from the glass with medium shades of crimson, ruby and Baltic amber. The bouquet delivers pressed rose, lavender bud, cassis and dried fig. The shortcomings of this notoriously difficult vintage are apparent here in terms of the wine's lesser aromatic intensity and the very lean and compact performance it gives to the palate. Drink this wine sooner rather than later. Some 12,493 bottles were produced.

The 2014 Barolo is light and washed out, with only modest depth, concentration and complexity. The wine's dried-out fruit further suggests it is best enjoyed sooner rather than later. In 2014, the straight Barolo includes fruit that would normally have been used for the Castellero vineyard designate.
