Dark ruby with an aged rim. Gosh there really is class on that nose! Refined top-quality Pauillac minerally fruit and obviously top-quality barrels. Just starting to lose a bit of its fruit concentration and energy but still a nice drink. Great balance and impressive length. Maybe just a little bit of hardness on the finish? (JR)

Latour offers a third wine which seems to be particularly impressive in 1995 and 1996. It is simply called Pauillac. The 1996 Pauillac is a blend of 50% Merlot and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon. A fat wine, with plenty of cassis fruit, excellent purity, and a surprising personality and complexity for its reasonable price, its potential rating of between 86-88 is high praise indeed. It should drink well for 7-8 years.
