Tasting notes
(made from fruit grown in Malleval; 3 new barrels out of 12 made): Green-tinged yellow. Sexy, expansive aromas of ripe citrus and orchard fruits, anise and smoky minerals, with a floral quality emerging with aeration. Sappy, penetrating and pure, boasting serious depth to its pear and nectarine flavors. Concentrated but racy as well, finishing spicy, stony and very long.

The 2012 Condrieu is a classic effort that gives up exotic fruits, white peach, apricot and citrus to go with a medium-bodied, clean and pure palate feel. Showing the richness of the variety in its texture, the overall impression here is one of purity and freshness. In addition to producing some of the best Gigondas out there, superstar winemaker Louis Barruol makes some fine Northern Rhones as well. Importer: Country Vintners, Ashland, VA; tel. (804) 752-3670
