Moving to the reds, the 2019 Clementin De Pape Clement sports a deeper ruby/plum color as well as solid Graves character in its notes of smoky tobacco, chocolate, earth, and both red and black fruits. Nicely textured, medium to full-bodied, and bringing plenty of fruit and texture, it's well worth seeking out, and I'd happily drink a bottle any time over the coming 10-12 years, if not longer.

The 2019 Clémentin de Pape Clément has calmed down on the nose, offering quite refined dark cherries and boysenberry and iodine aromas that gently unfold in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with lithe tannins, quite lush and confit-like. Touches of orange rind and white pepper mixed with clove appear toward the finish. Fine.
The 2019 Clémentin de Pape Clément has quite an intense bouquet with lavish red cherries mixed with boysenberry and blackcurrant jam aromas. Fine purity here. The palate is sweet and forward on the entry with juicy blackberry and sour cherry notes, a little pepperiness towards the finish. This is a fine second label from Pape Clément.

Among the oldest estates in Bordeaux, Ch. Pape Clément has been guided into the modern era by Bernard Magrez, who has managed the estate since 1985. It makes some of the best reds in the region.
