The 2009 Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d'Alba is unusually supple and gracious for a Serralunga Barolo, which gives it considerable appeal. Tobacco, wild flowers, herbs, mint and licorice add complexity over time, but the 2009 is a wine to drink and enjoy young, while the flavors remain buoyant. This is a terrific entry level offering.

Commune of Serralunga. Concentrated mid ruby with orange tinges. Soft oak and very ripe fruit and just a little jammy on the nose. Round and very approachable fruit. Could be a little more challenging. (WS)
