Score 94/100 · Drink 2024-2030, Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate, Jan 2023
They call the single-vineyard red 2019 La Viña de Amalio the most classical within their portfolio, aiming for a fresh and soft wine with good ripeness but no excess, generous oaking but not excessive, powerful and complete, with balance and depth reflecting the old vines planted in 1964 on soils that are rich in clay and sand. It fermented in a 3,000-liter vat and went through malolactic and 18 months of aging in French oak barrels. Full-bodied, rich and tannic, it should get better with a little more time in bottle. 4,100 bottles were filled in June 2021.
