Tasting notes
Magnum. Pale blackish ruby. Gentle and round with the tannins of Ribera but some interest even if it’s not truly exceptional – just a pleasure to find a mature vintage of anything! Clearly a Ribera… (JR)

This is an internationally-styled effort, but it reveals plenty of plum, tobacco, new saddle leather, and toasty oak characteristics. Dense, rich, textured and concentrated is the 1999 Torresilo. It boasts a deep ruby/purple color, superb purity as well as ripeness, and impressive length. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2014. Importer: a Christopher Cannan Selection, various American importers including Michael Skurnik, Syosset, NY; tel. (516) 677-9300 and Diamond Wine Merchants, Oakland, CA; tel. (510) 567-9897
Medium ruby. Cool aromas of cassis, shoe polish and mint. Juicy, fairly intense flavors of dark berries, licorice and herbs; nicely made but ultimately a wine of modest ripeness. Finishes with some green acidity and slightly dry tannins.
