Light gold. Intense spice- and mineral-accented peach and apricot pit aromas, along with a strong honey note that Sorrel says is a characteristic of old-vines marsanne. The very rich, sweet pit fruit and fig flavors are gently firmed by juicy acidity. This is brighter than the 2005 version, finishing minerally and quite long.

Sorrel’s flagship white is the Hermitage Les Rocoules. The outstanding 2004 (225 cases produced) tips the scales at 14.5% alcohol. Deep, sweet citrus oil notes intermixed with hints of stones and flowers emerge from this full-bodied, rich, impressive white. It should drink well for 10-15 years. Importer: JAO Wine Imports, McLean, VA.
