Aromas of paraffin wax, smoky pear, oatmeal and subtle petrol introduce the 2016 Meursault Les Narvaux, an ample but medium-bodied wine with a broad, textural profile and excellent overall harmony, though it lacks the depth and tension of Pierre-Yves Colin's best vintages.

Barrel sample. Very pure citrus fruit on the nose. Creamy oatmeal oak note and still a touch of chalky minerality. Rich, chewy depth on the palate, deep and full in the mouth but with the house hallmark of a tight citrus core. The leesy texture adds weight here. Chewy and generous but still finely shaped. Like all these wines, has impressive length. (JH)

(no frost here): Pale yellow. Reticent aromas of nectarine and anise. Juicy and sharply delineated thanks to fresh acidity; boasts lovely density and purity of peach fruit. Not hugely complex yet but finishes with noteworthy length. The fuller crop here yielded fruit with 12.3% potential alcohol, while the Meursault premier crus were about 12.5%, with the Poruzots reaching 12.7%.
