Tasting notes
Ripe black fruits, spicy wood, violets, and some classic Saint-Estèphe damp earth notes all emerge from the 2022 Château Laffitte Carcasset. Medium-bodied and beautifully balanced, it has a supple, elegant mouthfeel and ripe tannins. This is clearly an outstanding Saint-Estèphe that will keep for 10-15 years in cold cellars, and it's the finest wine I've tasted from this château. Drink 2025-2040.

The 2022 Lafitte Carcasset feels a little overripe on the nose and loses some delineation in the process. The palate is medium-bodied with thick tannins, more overripe fruit and a short finish.
Cru bourgeois supérieur. 50% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Cabernet Franc, on gravely clay, outcropping limestone and clayey sand. Yield 32 hl/ha. Aged in oak barrels. Dark crimson. Fruitier than most from this appellation. Very youthful indeed but promising. Cru classé quality. (JR)
