2012 Illumination Sauvignon Blanc

The only white wine I tasted from Quintessa is their blend of two-thirds Napa Sauvignon Blanc fruit and 35% Sonoma fruit, the 2012 Sauvignon Blanc Illuminaction. This terrific Sauvignon was made under the auspices of consultant Michel Rolland. It offers lots of honeyed melon, fig and ripe lemon characteristics in a medium-bodied, fresh, lively style. While it was probably barrel-fermented, it does not show any evidence of wood. Enjoy it over the next several years. Quintessa owns some magnificent vineyards adjacent to the Silverado Trail, south of St. Helena, so the introduction of Michel Rolland as their consultant should pay dividends handsomely. Tel.
