Juicy cherries, mulberries, leather, and gravelly earth notes all emerge from the 2022 Château La Vieille Croix, a medium-bodied, nicely balanced, charming Fronsac with building tannins and solid length on the finish. A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Cabernet Sauvignon from the clay and limestone plateau in Fronsac, drink bottles over the coming 8-10 years.
The 2022 La Vieille Cure still does not really convince on the nose; it's just missing some brightness and vigor. The palate is medium-bodied with a mocha- and caramel-tinged opening, perhaps evincing some fruit picked too late. The jury is out on this Fronsac.
