The 2022 Reysson exhibits aromas of dark cherries, licorice and cassis, followed by a medium to full-bodied, round and supple palate framed by elegant, fresh tannins and a long, mouthwatering finish.
The 2022 Reysson presents a strong briny aroma that I quite appreciate. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and a fine line of acidity, leading to a subtle savory element toward the finish. This is worth seeking out.
Cru bourgeois supérieur. 88% Merlot, 9% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc, grown on a plateau and clay-limestone hillsides. Yield 35 hl/ha. Aged on lees in oak barrels (20% new). A Dourthe property. Dark and glowing. Well-mannered and one can assume quite good-quality oak. Gentle, non-pushy, quite dry on the end. Correct – and very tannic – rather than thrilling. (JR)
