The 2022 Guiraud feels more backward on the nose, waxy and resinous, with something almost a little Germanic that fades as it reverts to Sauternes with time. The palate is well balanced, with a viscous opening, fine acidity and better tension here, but it comes across a little curt on the finish, hence my docking a point (sorry). Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London.

The 2022 Château Guiraud is beautiful, with the ripe, powerful style of the vintage. Honeyed orange, white flowers, peach, and some minty nuances all shine here, and this beauty hits the palate with full-bodied richness, a lush, layered, seamless mouthfeel, and a good sense of freshness that keeps it light on its feet. It's a brilliant Sauternes to drink over the coming two decades or so. The blend is 65% Semillon and 35% Sauvignon, raised in barrels.
The 2022 Guiraud has a powerful bouquet with yellow plum, jasmine, saffron and light waxy aromas that unfold in the glass. The palate is very well balanced with wonderful purity and hints of saffron-infused yellow fruit, orange pith and nectarine toward the caressing, marzipan-tinged finish. This is lovely!
