Tasted blind. Pale rim. Nose a bit volatile. But some smooth, suave Margaux-fruit on the palate. Not subtle but it may improve in bottle. (JR)

The 2018 Monbrison has a light minty bouquet that is just missing a bit of presence. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, but there is something missing from the midpalate. Balanced but just needs more substance and grip.

80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot. Deep ruby colour. Sweet, peppery nose. Enticing. Nice medium-weight fruit, definitely a hint of white pepper running through the wine that lifts the more luscious damson notes. Sappy tannins linger on the finish. (TP)
