Score 88-90/100 · Drink 2020-2028, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Dec 2017
The 2016 Echézeaux Grand Cru, which comes from En Orveaux, was 80% reduced by the frost this season. The bouquet felt a little stilted at first but opens to reveal straightforward brambly red fruit, attractive if a little simplistic at this level. The palate is medium-bodied with finer tannins than the nose suggests, tightly wound and tensile, moderate weight in the mouth with a peppery finish. Not bad overall, though it is just missing a little flair.
