Score 89-91/100 · William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Jan 2022

The 2020 Pommard En Brescul unwinds in the glass with aromas of cherries and sweet berries mingled with forest floor and licorice. Medium to full-bodied, rich and concentrated, with powdery, youthfully assertive tannins and lively acids, this will demand and reward a bit of patience. Readers following the saga of the badger that lives in this parcel may be diverted to learn that despite Lignier's effort to deter the animal in 2021, it nonetheless consumed a significant proportion of the crop shortly before harvest.

The 2020 Pommard En Brescul which Laurent Lignier told me is plagued by a badger that keeps eating his grapes, has a fine, slightly flinty bouquet, not complex but with an appealing edginess. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, quite sweet and lightly spiced with white pepper and sage towards the finish. Hey! Badger! Leave them grapes alone.
