Tasting notes
The 2020 Mangot has turned out beautifully, bursting with aromas of cherries, wild berries, rose petals, blood orange and bay leaf. Medium to full-bodied, supple and seamless, it's pure and vibrant, with a layered core of fruit, velvety tannins and a long, mouthwateringly chalky finish. This is a brilliant wine that sells for a song and which surpasses many of its more well-known neighbors.

The 2020 Château Mangot is 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon. It has a solid, medium-bodied profile, with plenty of dark fruit, but there's a distinct, herbal, almost vegetal character that certainly detracts from what would be normally be an outstanding wine. Give it 2-3 years and maybe, hopefully, this green, celery seed-like character will disappear.
The 2020 Mangot has quite a floral, well-defined bouquet with black plum, blackcurrant and light marine scents on the nose. There is just a very slight reduction. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly powdery tannins. The oak is nicely integrated with a cohesive finish that maybe just needs a little more tension. Otherwise, this will do nicely.
