Tasting notes
Based largely on Merlot with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon (and sometimes Malbec), the 2018 Château Valandraud 3 De Valandraud reveals a healthy ruby/plum color to go with juicy black cherry fruits intermixed with spice and leafy herbs notes. Medium-bodied, balanced, mid-weight, and undeniably delicious, it's well worth purchasing and enjoying over the coming 4-6 years.

The 2018 3 de Valandraud is soft, open-knit and silky, all of which make it a good choice for drinking over the near term. Crushed flowers, spice and sweet red plum fruit grace this rich yet mid-weight Saint-Émilion. The blend is 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc.
About the producer

One of the first garage wines, Ch. Valandraud was created by Jean-Luc Thunevin – Saint-Emilion’s “bad boy”. Today the style of the wine is much more restrained, and officially classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé B estate.
