Tasting notes
The 2019 3 de Valandraud has a ripe red berry, cola and mint scented bouquet that is only too willing to please. The palate is well defined with sharper tannins than expected, a very fine line of acidity and a judicious touch of spice on the finish that is more classic than the nose augurs. Great effort for a third wine.

Always a juicy, delicious wine, the 2019 Château Valandraud 3 De Valandraud from the Thunevin offers a deeper ruby hue as well as classy notes of ripe black cherry and mulberry fruits, medium-bodied richness, good concentration, and a lengthy finish. It's well worth seeking out and is going to be a terrific value.
The 2019 3 de Valandraud is a supple, fruity wine to drink young. Dark fruit, chocolate, licorice and spice come together in a pliant, supple and nicely expressive wine that should drink well right out of the gate.
Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the 2019 No 3 de Valandraud reveals a good intensity of warm plums, mulberries and fruitcake scents on the nose with hints of garrigue, tar and unsmoked cigars. Medium-bodied, the palate is refreshing and well-constructed with a pleasant suggestion of chewiness on the savory finish.
About the producer

One of the first garage wines, Ch. Valandraud was created by Jean-Luc Thunevin – Saint-Emilion’s “bad boy”. Today the style of the wine is much more restrained, and officially classified as a Premier Grand Cru Classé B estate.
