Score 89-91/100 · Drink 2023-2033, Neal Martin, Jan 2020
The 2018 Meursault Les Durots, which abuts Volnay Santenots, has an open-knit bouquet of dark cherries and raspberry fruit that seems well defined and quite finessed for a red Meursault. The medium-bodied palate delivers firm tannins that frame the saline fruit. Quite masculine and grippy in the mouth, with a dash of black pepper toward the finish. It is a "serious" wine, as Anne Morey described it, but I think the gentle pigeage retained a sense of refinement underneath its tough exterior. Give it time.
