Wafting from the glass with aromas of raspberries, cherries, sweet spices, petals and coniferous forest floor, the 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers (Domaine Louis Jadot) is medium to full-bodied, layered and vibrant, with terrific depth at the core, and a bright, precise profile despite its maturity, conceding with a long, saline finish. This parcel was ripped up for replanting in 2022, and in 2021 it was including in a blend, so this is its swan song vintage.

The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Cazetiers 1er Cru is very composed on the nose with blackberry, briary, Earl Grey and light marine nuances on the finish. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy ripe red fruit, grippy tannins and though there is some new oak to be assimilated on the finish, it just needs 5-7 years in the cellar before you will surely have a fine Cazetiers on your hands.

Louis Jadot is arguably the most consistent négociant house in Burgundy. It has managed to straddle both the entry-level and fine wine market, while retaining respect in both.
