Tasting notes
The gently fragrant and refined 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon offers up a wonderful core of fruit aromas including red and black currants, and touches of gravel lifted by a leafy/herbal complexity. Excellent fruit definition and focus are well matched to classy small French oak. A silky yet firm palate follows that is vibrant and fresh with superb layers of blackcurrant and liquorice flavours that drive through to a long and fine finish with exceptional balance throughout.

Purest cassis with mint leaf and milk chocolate. The oak waits until the finish before adding spice. Excellent length and lovely restraint, very classically styled yet with impressive primary fruit. (RH)
Clarity and nuance, silky tannins, herb-strewn, full of life and character and nuance, a whole other level of Cabernet Sauvignon, reflecting this unusual site. Blue fruits dominate over the darker cassis, adding freshness and keeping the rich concentration at arms length until the layers build through the palate. Smoked oak on the finish but it is barely discernable against the depth of fruit and minerality. Love this. Harvest April 13 and 16, 3.96ph. Just under 1,900 bottles produced.
