Score 93/100 · Drink 2004-2024, Daniel Thomases, Wine Advocate, Apr 2004
The superb 2001 Gabbro, Sangiovese and Cabernet Franc, manages to surpass its stable mate. A somber, inky ruby, its powerful aromas of black currants, sweet herbs, and minerals are matched by a concentration, richness, and complexity on the palate, a fullness and iron power which promise twenty years of excellent drinking. Fabio Chiarelotto, who returned to his native Tuscany from Switzerland to run the estate, is a tireless worker in the vineyards, and it shows, and the winemaking from Fabrizio Moltard is inspired.
