Tasting notes
A blend of Aux Murgers and Aux Vignerondes, the 2016 Nuits St Georges 1er Cru was showing quite a bit of reduction on the nose, making it difficult to read. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin on the entry matched by a fine thread of acidity. This is very structured, quite Morey-Saint-Denis in style with a broody, square-jawed grippy finish that just needs to lighten up a little. It will certainly require 3 or 4 years to fully absorb the new oak that is conspicuous at the moment (as it often is at this stage).
