Tasting notes
The Poggio Scalette 2018 Chianti Classico is a classic expression from the Greve in Chianti subzone of the appellation with a touch of wild bramble that comes in with the breezes that blow over these wooded hills. This pretty wine opens to sweet blueberries and blackberries with some rose, earth and crushed stone. This is a linear and tight Chianti Classico that is offered at a great price.

The 2018 Chianti Classico is a very pretty wine, not complex or super-structured, but a real delight to taste. Bright red Sangiovese fruit and sweet floral notes are front and center. Time in the glass brings out a range of cedar, leather and tobacco notes. More than anything else, the 2018 is a wine to enjoy for its fruit goodness.
Greve in Chianti. Cask sample. Mid crimson. Leafy cherry and raspberry fruit with hints of garden herbs. Light yet compact palate of raspberry fruit and supple acidity. Just a touch of creamy oak and gorgeous, succulent sour-cherry fruit with gripping tannins on the finish. (WS)
