Tasting notes
Sexy aromas of redcurrant, tobacco and dried flowers. Fresh, spicy and nicely delineated, with the tobacco element carrying through in the mouth. An elegantly styled normale that finishes with a fine dusting of tannins and noteworthy persistence.

The 2006 Barbaresco is a pretty, fruit-driven wine with good depth and balance. Though not terribly complex, the red does show lovely persistence in its fruit. The tannins are soft and the wine is accessible at this stage, suggesting it should be enjoyed over the near-term.

Proprietor Angelo Rocca makes some of the richest Barbarescos in town, but even he couldn't overcome the challenges of the 2006 vintage. His Barbarescos show excellent integrity of fruit and a refined use of oak, even if they don't quite reach the level of his finest wines.
