Tasting notes
One of the high points of the range is the 2019 Pommard 1er Cru Rugiens-Hauts, a medium to full-bodied, round and fleshy wine evocative of raspberries, plums, sweet spices and orange rind. It's a soft, charming rendition of this site, which delivers a more linear, ethereal style than the stereotypical muscularity of Rugiens-Bas.

The 2019 Pommard Les Rugiens-Haut 1er Cru has a nicely focused bouquet, although I would have liked a little more vigor. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip and quite mineral-driven, offering blackberry and raspberry and a pleasant chalkiness toward the finish. A somewhat playful Pommard.
At the bottom of the slope. Two out of seven new barrels and 50% whole bunch. Barrel sample. A slight oak note. Solid stuff, with marked tannins, as one might expect of this vineyard. But still with a light touch somehow. (JR)
