The 2007 Coddington Chardonnay is perfumed and fragrant, full of flavor and spearheaded by a glass tip of acidity. This is sapid and penetrating, intense and long, and the wine, at 18 years from its harvest date, is looking complete. It's a postcard or time capsule from the past and a reminder not to drink these wines too young; you will miss the complexity and the depth and sheer force of flavor if you do. Take it from someone who did.

The 2007 Chardonnay Coddington shows a richness of fruit and a white fruit character. Smoky clove and toasty characters linger on the rich finish. It is not an excellent vintage but a solid first bottling for Coddington, which had previously been part of the Chardonnay Estate.
The 2007 Coddington Chardonnay has an outstanding, complex bouquet of dried honey, flint, pressed white flowers and quince, all beautifully defined and focused. The fresh, vibrant palate offers crisp acidity, orange zest mixed with apricot and a light touch of white pepper. It feels very harmonious and persistent. This is the best mature Coddington Chardonnay I have tasted. Just superb. Tasted at the Kumeu River Chardonnay vertical in London.
