1983 Hermitage Le Greal

Add another 1983 to the list of disappointments from this vintage that may turn out to be too tannic. Ruby/garnet-colored, with an earthy, olive, cedar, and plum-scented nose, this medium- to full-bodied wine still has plenty of tannin to lose. Lamentably, I think the fruit is beginning to dry out. Anticipated maturity: now-2004. Last tasted 1/91.
