Pale ruby. Sweet and charming. Very well mannered and only at the very end do the tannins intrude. (JR)

Rosso's 2009 Barolo Cerretta is richer, deeper and more layered than La Serra. Here the fruit is wonderfully open and resonant, while the tannins are barely noticeable. A generous, resonant finish rounds this out beautifully. Hints of cedar, nutmeg and licorice linger on the soft, resonating finish.

Mid ruby. A bit skinnier on the nose than many other Baroli. Dynamic energy. But a little bit mainstream. Solid but halfway between modern red wine and Barolo. (JR)
