Tasting notes
The Ginestra cru is a personal favorite. I just love the wines from this long slope of sun-soaked vineyards that extends down from Monforte d'Alba. The Paolo Conterno 2014 Barolo Ginestra has fared very nicely despite the infamous difficulties of the vintage. The wine shows tiptop ripeness with balanced and intense aromas of black fruit, spice, anise seed and cola. This wine is still very tight and nervous at its core, so give it ample time to evolve in your cellar. I'd suggest another 10 years at a minimum. With 16,000 bottles made, this wine promises to blossom.

Tank sample. Slightly muddy-looking garnet. A warm, unchallenging embrace on the nose. Well-integrated fruit with a streak of leaf mould. Fine tannins on the end. (JR)
