The 2018 Lafleur-Gazin impressed me from barrel, so the question is, has that carried over now that the wine is bottled? Well, it still retains the pretty, floral bouquet of black fruit tinctured with leather and brown spice, more open than JP Moueix’s other cuvées. The well-defined palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, moderate depth, and that black truffle note now more accentuated. It comes across not unlike La Grave, but there is greater amplitude and persistence on the finish. Do check this out – it might surprise you.

Just an up-front, incredibly charming, irresistible Pomerol, the 2018 Château Lafleur-Gazin offers up a smorgasbord-like nose of red and black cherries, flowery incense, spice, and cedary herbs. With loads of sweet fruit, this plush, layered, sexy 2018 has sweet tannins, no hard edges, and the class to evolve and drink well for 10-15 years.
The 2018 Lafleur-Gazin is a supple, easygoing Pomerol. Sweet red cherry, rose petal, mint, new leather and cedar all develop with a bit of air. Blood orange, cinnamon and spice notes come to the fore with a bit of air, adding aromatic lift. I expected to see a bit more depth, especially in the mid-palate, but the 2018 is nicely balanced and ready to offer fine drinking for the next two decades or so.
