Transparent crimson. Delicate nose. Edgy with great structure and sufficient fruit too. Classic! A sensation of smoky bonfires on the tarry finish. This wine is great now but should last well too. (JR)

Dark ruby with a blackish hue. Intense, almost charred nose. Very round tannins – an extraordinary contrast to many of the other wines! There’s just a little chewy tannin on the end. But initially the fruit is super-smooth. Interesting! Though not that concentrated in the middle. (JR)
The 2012 Barolo Brunate is slightly more delicate and feminine than expected. The Brunate vineyard is known for the power and intensity of its fruit. But in this vintage, the site has produced wines with a more streamlined disposition and a lighter aromatic load. All that muscle and brawn is replaced by elegance and finesse. Floral notes are followed by wild berry and white cherry.
La Morra. Very dark ruby with orange rim. Full yet embryonic nose. Well concentrated without going over the top and with mouth-filling, grainy tannins. Youthful and long. (WS)
