Tasting notes
The 2012 Syrah Suisassi brings together the density and richness of the Tuscan coast, but the inclusion of whole clusters adds freshness and also seems to bring forward considerable varietal character. Sweet dark cherries, violets, lavender, quinine and spices are some of the many notes that grace the open-knit finish. The Syrah is fermented and aged in cask, a technique Luca D'Attoma first used at Le Macchiole.

A pure expression of Syrah, the 2012 Suisassi is an outstanding interpretation of one of wine's noble grape varieties. The nose is immensely full and generous and there is a clear presence of something exotic on the bouquet that resembles cardamom, clove or cinnamon stick. The fruit is dark and loaded tight with extraction and richness. As I found in most of Duemani's new releases the oak element is still not fully integrated. I would give it a year or two before serving this wine.
