Score 94/100 · Drink 2022-2036, Stephan Reinhardt, Wine Advocate, Oct 2018

Huber's 2016 (Malterdinger Bienenberg) Spätburgunder GG Wildenstein opens with an impressively pure and stony but also ripe and concentrated bouquet of dark forest berries and peppery spices. Very silky and refined on the palate, this is a full-bodied, almost sweet and highly elegant Pinot Noir from iron-rich limestone soils. This is an expressive but highly elegant and finessed Pinot Noir with a remarkable vitality and tension, but the 2016 remains so delicate from the start right into the finish. Great intensity and perfectly ripened fruit aromas in the aftertaste. Tasted in Wiesbaden in August 2018.

Pale-to-medium raspberry hue, pink rim. The 2015 Wildenstein shocked some critics with its high level of acidity, but Gault-Millau Germany gave it 100 points! 2016 has some deliciously mouth-watering fruit, redcurrants and cherries, acidity delivering great vibrancy, salty minerality and fine spices add complexity. Great substance and length add up to class. (MS)
