Tasting notes
Produced from the famous Clos des Capucins that surrounds the Faller's beautiful home as well as the winery, the lemon and mineral-scented 2000 Riesling Cuvee Theo is an intense, extracted wine of enormous finesse. Light to medium-bodied, it reveals flavors reminiscent of minerals awash in lemons. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2012. According to Laurence Faller, this highly regarded estate's winemaker, "unquestionably 2000 must be considered one of the finest vintages of the last decade. It reminds me of 1998 but with more botrytis, yet not too much." Importer: Vineyard Brands, Birmingham, AL; tel. (205) 980-8802

Precise aromas of lime, mint and powdered stone. Cool, penetrating flavors of lemon, lime and minerals. Less round than the '99 owing to its brisk acids and slightly lower residual sugar (3.5 g/l, vs. 5 for the '99). Quite young and evolving slowly. Finishes with sneaky persistence.
